Obituary of Ruthie M. Johnson

Ruthie M. Johnson Lived her life to live again and transitioned peacefully into eternity at the age of 88, on Monday August 30, 2021, while surrounded by her family. Born in Chicago, IL on January 5, 1933, to Richard and Ruby Hill there were four children born to their union; Doretha Bryant, Ruthie M. Johnson, Ardena Louden, and Ralph H. Hill. Our parents, John and Ruthie Johnson were married on May 31st, 1952, to their union seven children were born. Ralph A. Johnson, Rodney J. Johnson, Donna L. Johnson, Minta L. (Laryl) Beck, Iris J. (Bobbie) Pittman, John J. Johnson, Jr., and Ruby Johnson-Huff. Our dear mother is described by many as giving, caring, and selfless. she, enjoyed sharing these traits in her profession as a social worker, leaving the Illinois Department of Children’s and Family Services. In 1982 she continued her social work career when, as a dedicated wife, she moved to Arizona with her husband and their two youngest children. Her love for the Lord, lead her to Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., where she was a faithful member for 39 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings, John her husband of 49 years, her eldest son Ralph Anthony, youngest daughter Ruby Bernice, and her Grandson Bobbie Pittman, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Rodney J. Johnson, Donna L. Johnson, Minta L. (Laryl) Beck, Iris J. (Bobbie) Pittman, and John J. Johnson, Jr. 15 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church members, and her friend of over 80 years Ms. Jean Greenlaw. And if it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live; but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
