Patsy Wetherald

Obituary of Patsy Wetherald

Patsy was born to her mother and forever best friend Pat in Seattle, Washington on April 15, 1948. Patsy grew up in Mount Lake Terrace, Washington and graduated from Mount Lake Terrace High School, Class of 1966.

After graduation her need for a lifelong adventure began. Patsy’s first adventure began by packing up her few belongings and high tailing it over to the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. As much as she loved the ocean and sand the mountains were calling her name. She took her love for adventure next to Lake Tahoe. She spent many years here as a young adult bartending, skiing, and meeting some of her best friends she would have for life.

A new adventure began when she moved back to Washington to help her mother and stepfather, Pat and Al Hunstad start Greenwood Travel Agency. After a few years of more travel and adventure she did not know the real adventure was only just beginning, just shy of her 40th birthday she found out she was pregnant with her only daughter Katie.

They moved to Sultan, Washington and spent 15 years there and summers in Lake Chelan, Washington where they ran the store at the state park with family. As soon as Katie went away to college, Patsy realized one more adventure was in order and she left the rain and moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona. She resided in Sun Lakes for the remainder of her life.

The only way to describe Patsy is a ray of sunshine. She had a generosity to her that made everyone feel comfortable in her presence. She could make friends anywhere she went and that she did. Over her lifetime she made true lasting friendships in every corner of the world. She was an amazing mother always putting her daughters hopes and dreams first. She was lucky enough to call her mother and daughter her best friends and they were, “The Three Generations.” Patsy’s smile and zest for life will truly be missed. She is survived by her daughter Katie, brothers Steve and Greg, sister Debbie, Uncle Dennis and many cousins.
