Obituary of Mildred W. Meisner

We are saddened to announce that Mildred (Midge) Meisner, 96, passed away peacefully in hospice care on June 24, 2022 with her granddaughter, Kelsey, at her side. She was born on October 4, 1925 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents, Mary Francis (Dickens) Williams and Arthur Frank Williams. Midge was the youngest of five children and the only girl.

She loved telling people that she got her nickname, Midge, from a boyfriend who told her “You don’t look like a Mildred”. He was right. She may have been Midge to many, but she was also Mom, Grammy, and Great Grammy to her beloved family.

Upon graduating high school, she enrolled in college, but stopped after one semester when she met her future husband, Henry Joseph (Jack) Meisner. They met when she went on a double blind date, and ended up being attracted to the other girl’s date, Jack, more than her date. It was an instant attraction on both sides, and Jack told her he never liked the other girl anyway. It was a total “meet cute”! Midge and Jack were married on May 2,1944, and moved to Kansas to start their lives together. They were best friends and were married 51 years until his death in 1995.

Midge was a faithful servant of the Lord and was always very involved in church, whether as a member, usher, or volunteer. Her hobbies and interests over the years included sewing, playing bridge, participating in a women’s organization (PEO), fishing, cooking, and baking; however, nothing mattered to her more than family. Midge never forgot anyone’s birthday. You would always have a card show up early (never late) and she never failed to call and sing you “Happy Birthday”, whether you answered or not. She showed love through food and was well known for her famous chocolate cream pies, Texas sheetcake, fried chicken, and toffee.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary (Mollie), her four siblings, Howard, Russell, Ralph, and Edgar (Eddie) Williams, her husband, Henry Joseph (Jack) Meisner, and her son, Jack (Brian) Meisner.

She is survived by immediate family – daughter, Chris (Bill) Denzer, granddaughter, Kelsey (Drew) Donohue, grandson, Christopher Denzer, and great granddaughters, Jade and Autumn Donohue. There will forever be a hole in our hearts, but we are comforted in knowing that she is in eternal life in Heaven with her forever love, Jack.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley Arizona, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice.
