Obituary of David Valdez Lopez

David Valdez Lopez (“Luchie”), 79, of Guadalupe peacefully passed away on July 28th, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.

He worked in the trucking industry where he delivered different crops throughout Arizona and to surrounding states. When he was a teenager, he met Nellie Cota. They would go on to get married and have four daughters. He retired from the trucking industry in 1999 and spent his free time with his family and grandchildren. David was known for his humorous outlook and his quick wit. He was outgoing with those who passed by his home and would nickname everyone whom he befriended. David took part in his community by volunteering with the Guadalupe Volunteer Fire Department and as a baseball coach for teenagers. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends, but his presence will never be forgotten by those who knew him.

David was predeceased in death by his parents Marcial and Rita Lopez, his beloved wife Nellie Lopez, and by his siblings Gilbert Machado, Rudy Machado, Pat Villa, Ruben Vizerra, Socorro Vargas. He is survived by Rita Trevino (Jacinto), Jeannette Uriarte (Charlie), Lorraine Rodriguez (Johnny), and NellieAnn Lopez. He cherished the company of his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with another great-grandson forthcoming. A viewing will be held at Legacy Funeral Home in Chandler on August 8th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on August 9th at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at his residence.
