Obituary of Dorothy Lee Sizemore

Dorothy Lee (Balch) Sizemore of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022 with her family by her side. She was 92 years old.

Dorothy Lee was the daughter of Archie Jewel Balch and Mattie Lee (Reader) Balch. She was born on August 19, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the oldest of nine children. She grew up in Beeville, Texas. She met Calvin Coolidge Sizemore who was stationed at the Chase field Naval Base in Beeville, Texas. They wed on April 9, 1946 in Sinton, Texas and moved to his home in Ramona, Oklahoma. To this union were born three children.

Dorothy was a loving Wife, Mother and homemaker. She loved her family and cared for them dearly. Her heart was always concerned for others. She helped wherever there was a need and sacrificed many times. Dorothy got saved in her 20’s. She lived a beautiful Christian life and was an example to her family. She was well liked by all who knew her. She loved her bible and a favorite chapter was John 14:1-6 “In my Father’s House are many mansions” which she had memorized at a young age. She is now enjoying her home in Heaven. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She especially loved her grandchildren who were a very important part of her life.. she took loving care of her grandson, Matthew and granddaughter, Rachel when they were little. She and her daughter Carol Ann had a very close bond. Carol helped and cared for her Mother. Her pastor Reverend and Mrs. Michael Marshall were faithful and prayed much for her in times of sickness. Her favorite song was “What a Day That Will Be.” She attended the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Carol Ann Ramsay of Mesa, Arizona and her son Beve W. Sizemore of Polk, Pennsylvania; two sisters Darlene Skelton of Monroe, Ohio and Brenda Nelson and husband Mark of Beeville, Texas; a brother Danny Huddler and Wife Mary of Wisconsin.  Five Grandchildren:Matthew James Ramsay and Wife Sharon of  Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho,  Rachel Ann Ramsay and her fiancé David Kish of Mesa, Arizona; John Lee Sizemore and Wife Megan of Hutchinson, Kansas and Tyler Scott Sizemore of Parsons, Kansas, Kimmie Sue Suddock and daughter Kaylyn Suddock of Chetopa, Kansas. Dorothy had seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Geneva Spotz and Americus Spotz. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Archie Balch of Beeville, Texas, her husband Calvin Coolidge Sizemore of Mound Valley, Kansas, one son, John L Sizemore of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, one sister Alice Jewel Schultz of Midland, Texas, four brothers: Carlton Galle of Sacramento, California, Billy Galle of Beeville, Texas, Robert Galle of Beeville Texas and Donald Wayne Huddler of Beeville, Texas.

Funeral Arrangements will be with Legacy Funeral home in Mesa, Arizona. Internment will be in the family plot at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Texas.
